Kaaterskill Falls Trail - Yellow

Start of trail on Rte 23A, at the hairpin turn. This used to be the start of the Escarpment Trail, until the extremely dangerous section climbing Kaaterskill Falls was closed. Parking is available at the top of the hill, where Rip's Lookout used to be. Please be careful walking down the hill along the highway. The trail leaves the highway and passes Bastion Falls.

Base of Kaaterskill Falls. Please be careful here. Too many people have died on the steep, eroded slopes. Rocks that seem strong can suddenly give way because of erosion below them. If you wish to visit the top of the falls, they can be accessed from a parking lot at the end of Laurel House Road, off North Lake Road in Haines Falls.
