The Ashokan Center is located in Olivebridge, NY (16 mi. west of NYS Thruway exit 19). Ashokan, a pioneer in the world of outdoor education, has run outdoor/environmental ed and living history programs for school groups since 1967. Its proximity to the Ashokan Reservoir (the largest in the NYC water supply system) provides countless teachable moments for history, science, and watershed education. About 5,000 children attend our programs each year, and many organizations and retreat groups such as Fiddle & Dance Camps, Summersongs, Wayfinders and the Northeast Herbal Association, also call Ashokan their home.

Opus 40 and the Quarryman's Museum - Saugerties, NY

About one hundred miles from New York City, tucked in a pocket of the Catskills in the township of Saugerties, New York, lies one of the most extraordinary pieces of sculpture ever created by a single man. The work is an immense composition of finely fitted stone, rising in ramps and swirling terraces around pools and trees and fountains out of the rock bed of an abandoned bluestone quarry. It spreads out over more than six acres. It is the product of more thirty-seven years of a man's life. The man's name was Harvey Fite. He worked alone, using his hands and traditional quarryman's tools, to build his masterpiece: Opus 40.

 

East Durham, NY

The Irish Cultural & Sports Centre is a 501(c)(3), Non-Profit organization founded in 1987 in the hamlet of East Durham, Greene County, New York. The mission of the ICSC is to preserve and promote Irish / Irish-American cultural and athletic heritage. While dedicated to preserving the symbols of our past, the Centre will present to the public, a variety of Irish Cultural programs, both historic and contemporary, in fine arts, language, literature, theatre, music, dance and folk arts.

A museum dedicated to recording and presenting the history and heritage of the Irish in America. Changing exhibits, research library, family programs, and lectures.

 

The Zadock Pratt Museum, Prattsville, NY

The Zadock Pratt Museum, an Historic House Landmark, inconspicuously nestled on Main Street (Route 23) in the picturesque little village of Prattsville in western Greene County, was the home and operations center for one of the most benign industrial tycoons in American history. (website is badly out of date, but it's still a nice place to visit)

 

Mountain Top Arboretum - Tannersville

An arboretum, by definition, is an outdoor collection of trees, shrubs, and other woody plants systematically and aesthetically arranged for the purposes of demonstration, research, and education. The Mountain Top Arboretum is a "living museum" where visitors are welcome daily throughout the summer month, to walk about, enjoy and learn more about trees and shrubs that are not indigenous to the Catskills but have proven to grow happily in this environment.

 

Catskill Fly Fishing Center & Museum, Livingston Manor, NY

The Catskill Fly Fishing Center and Museum is a nonprofit, educational organization dedicated to: preserving America's flyfishing heritage; teaching its future generations of flyfishers; and protecting its flyfishing environment.

 

Delaware County Historical Association, Delhi, NY

The Delaware County Historical Association campus is located about two miles north of the Village of Delhi on Route 10, and is home to several historic buildings, a library/archive and genealogical research center, and three exhibit galleries.

 

The Trolley Museum of New York, Kingston, NY

The Trolley Museum of New York is a non-profit educational museum founded in 1955. The goals of the museum are to offer a ride to the public and through exhibits and educational programs to share the rich history of rail transportation and the role it played in the Hudson Valley region.

Catskill Scenic Trail

The Catskill Scenic Trail lies on top of the former rail bed of the Ulster & Delaware Railroad. This 19-mile Rails to Trails project offers a hard-packed surgace that makes it perfect for hiking, biking, horseback riding and cross-country skiing. The Trail's very gentle grade is a unique feature, with only a four hundred foot change in elevation over the entire 19 miles. The young and the young-at-heart will find this an easy trek through some of the most beautiful scenery in the world.
